Week 4 Reflection!
My week started off with a one on one mid-internship check in with Adrianna, which was very informative because it let me know what to keep up and what to improve on! I also had a meeting with Adrianna to go over my answers for this internship’s interview. I left my internship interview feeling bummed because I had felt that I gave bad answers but during my meeting with Adrianna she left me feeling assured because she mentioned that the answers I provided were well fitting and that she could clearly see my care and passion for PI straight through the laptop screens. Kayla and I held our very 1st informational interview with UO’s pre business student Sharon Sherpa. After her time at UO, she plans on using her marketing skills to apply to a company that values her time which she hopes will ultimately lead to her creating her own company while living lavishly in New York. The first time Sharon visited UO she described her experience as automatically clicking and with no time could already envision herself already eating, studying, and making new connections there. Hearing Sharon talk about her previous experiences at UO definitely relaxed my nerves a bit because the way she described her experiences made going to college very desirable and fun!
This week in particular I spent a lot of my time working on the eventer’s projects. We started and finished our script for the VEP promotional video and have also finished reviewing the VEP checklist! I have very high hopes on the outcomes and I hope it is as awesome as we expect for our VEP promotional video and I can't wait to actually start filming the video!! Lastly after working on the VEP recruitment plan we finally had our group interview this week and for the most part i’d say it went pretty well. To break down our interview process, we split out in 2 breakout rooms on zoom to have more of a relaxed atmosphere. The breakout room consisted of one leader from each committee. We went around the room having applicants answer 7 questions each focused on communication and experience, we then provided them with 5 minutes to brainstorm and roughly plan their own volunteer event. The purpose of the 5 minute exercise was for the applicants to really show how well they work with one another. All applicants gave pretty good answers and they all shined amazingly for the 5 min brainstorming exercise. The 5 min exercise the group presented us with was to hold a clean up at Clinton park and collaborate with kids from Atkinson elementary school with possibly an incentive to make the event more desirable. Their reason behind this event was because Clinton park is used by many different groups of people and for multiple reasons, such as athletes practicing, students studying or hanging out, people having picnics, dog owners walking their dog, and people simply coming out for a walk. The decision making for this is going to be very tough but I trust that the other interns and I will make good choices.
