Week 5 Reflection!
This week we attended our 2nd to last article discussion, something that caught my attention while watching the video for our article discussion was when Eric Liu said that protests can activate people who have been on the sidelines of civic life. I think that's 100% true because for example even if you are for black lives matter you necessarily don’t always show it (like it’s not written on our foreheads haha) but by seeing how active people around you are it can somewhat flip a switch inside of you to do the same.
For our VEP recruitment we has a few poeple who couldnt make the original intevriew so Christian, Jennifer, and I held a makeup interview. I personally think the makeup interview went great even though not everyone who had told us they’d attend come! During the makeup interview all participants gave great detailed answers! They especially thrived in our 5 minute brainstorm exercise. We were expecting a roughly planned draft of a possible volunteer event but they hit us with a super detailed plan with all aspects covered (super impressive!) . The next day we had our debrief meeting with Adrianna to finalize our new VEP team. We had 10 applicants who came to interviews and although the original plan was to accept 9 members but we all agreed that the 2 candidates we were debating on keeping were neither a good fit for our team so we now have 8 official new VEP members! I'm super pumped to meet and bond with them all!!
Kayla and I worked on our Eventers projects a lot this week, we met up in real life to record scenes for our promotional video and we have been meeting online to work on the VEP checklist! A struggle I faced while editing our VEP checklist was grid searching. For a lot of the pages we wanted to add a grid/checklist section. The problem with that was that there weren't any grids we liked available on Canva so I found some single lines and spent most of my time aligning them all perfectly, which was definitely the most time consuming for this whole process.
